Helps for Ushers

“I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness” (Psalm 84:10). There are no laws about how to enter or exit the church, how to get from your seat to the communion rail, or how to find a hymnal or order of service. There are likewise many ways to bring an offering to the Lord, and some require no personal interaction at all. What an immense delight it is, however, to know what to do at the right time—especially if you are already unsure because you are a visitor. When ushers do their job well, they are hardly noticed; but what assistance better contributes to worship done “decently and in good order” (1 Cor. 14:40)? Thank you for your help and service, dear ushers. We hope these resources help you see to it efficiently and with joy.
