“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom, in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs…” (Colossians 3). For Lutherans, music is not a peripheral decoration; it is the handmaiden to theology and second only to theology (Luther). We take Paul’s admonition to heart and want all our music in the Church to serve this end, that the Scriptures and their teaching would dwell among us and in us unto eternal life. LCMS Worship wants to support church musicians in their tasks of planning, preparing, singing, leading. We also want to foster healthy and fruitful synergy between pastors and musicians, so that in everything, pulpit and balcony proclaim God’s Word in rich harmony.
